Standards And Choice

In setting standards, the first thing you must do is tell yourself that you won’t settle for being second place. If you settle for being second and view yourself as unworthy of being first, you will be doomed. You will end up settling for less than you are able to achieve in life.

Second, you should see yourself as worthy of being number one. You need to know that you’re special and that you deserve to be treated as such. Therefore, you don’t have to worry about the false standards of the world or what others may say. You’ll have confidence in yourself and this confidence comes first.

Next, please don’t get caught up in your emotions, thinking that you need someone or something to define who you, make you feel special, or make you feel complete. You’re that already special. However, this does not mean that you should take on a conceited attitude. This is simply to say that you should take on a confident attitude and be sure of yourself in a healthy manner.

Let me add that you can change your choice but, not your standards. There’s a difference. While you can change your choice about things you like such as music, movies, or clothes, you should never change your standards based on quality character traits.

When you keep high standards, you will develop high expectations, maintain confidence and instill self-integrity. If you lower your standards, you will possess low expectations and there’s no telling what you will get. Standards are important to have in order to avoid settling for anything.

Overall, be confident in yourself, develop high expectations, and maintain high standards. When you do, you’ll settle for nothing less than the best!
