Women who are empowered should motivate more men to become strong-willed and strong-minded.
Let’s take African American women, for example, who in my perspective are the most powerful and influential species in the world. Not to mention they outweigh African American men in college degrees by more than 50 percent.
However, we as African American men, still have issues with our sisters accomplishing their goals and being powerful.
Quite frankly, African American men must swallow their pride and start learning from our sisters. We have fallen asleep in terms of being determined, while they are wide awake in terms of their consistent leadership and undeniable independence.
From Rosa Parks, to Harriet Tubman, to Oprah Winfrey and First Lady Michelle Obama, there have been many who have set the tone and cultivated their throne. Still, there’s more work to be done. By learning from these ladies, I will continuously be motivated by the African American woman, and you should too!

I do understand and respect all that African American women have accomplished. And I have no problem being under the leadership of one (or any woman for that matter). However, I would caution against men just simple acquiescing and giving up their role as a leaders in our society. Let me add this is not a sexist statement but if we as African American men bow down to our women and not stand up as a man then what will happen will be the mental emasculation of our manhood. I don’t believe so much that we should swallow our pride as much as we need to HAVE SOME PRIDE! Be proud to be an African American man and be proud of the power and possibilities that you have. Proud to know the we can overcome challenges and struggles. A college degree…
